1950 Twin Coach 52-S2 (Asbury Rapid Transit No.2150)
The Metropolitan Coach Lines returned the large Twin 52-S2 coach to the busy route 52 Los Angeles-Alhambra-Temple City in November 1952 but in 1954 the coach was placed in long term storage at the Macy Shops. In July 1955 coach 2150 was sent to Metropolitan Coach Lines subsidary, Asbury Rapid Transit and used in service on various routes in a pool with Asbury's "king-size" Twins in the San Fernando Valley.

1950 Twin Coach 52-S2. (PE No.2150)
The Pacific Electric Railway intended to purchase 200 new buses for rail service replacement under a 1950-51 modernization program (at a cost of $7 million) so Twin Coach and General Motors supplied sample buses to the company in 1950.
This large Twin model 52-S2 coach was delivered to Pacific Electric in January 1950. The PE tested it on a variety of routes as demonstrator number 2150 until November 1950 when it was purchased. PE liked the coach, it was economical and had a large capacity, however it was underpowered for most Pacific Electric routes, so the company decided not to purchase more due to its "lack of the reserve engine power" and placed an order for GM TDH-5103 coaches instead. This lone coach saw service mostly on route 52, Los Angeles-Alhambra-Temple City in 1951-53 and it was then transferred to the Sierra Vista local line in June 1953; operating on that line until the sale of the Pacific Electric passenger service to Metropolitan Coach Lines in October 1953.

St.-Petersburg Tram Collection 1:43 Scale cast bus model. The Twin Coach Company of Kent, Ohio, was organized by the Fageol brothers in 1927 to produce a revolutionary dual-engined forward-control 40-passenger heavy duty transit bus. Almost 1,200 Model 40s were built between 1927 and 1934 for service all over the US. At first Twin Coach used two 4-cyl Waukesha engines but in 1928 the company switched to Hercules engines. Pacific Electric bought their first ten Model 40 buses (numbered 400-409) in 1929; they were put into service on the most heavy coach lines and ran on into the late 1930s. In all, between 1928 and 1930 thirty Model 40s were delivered to Los Angeles for the Pacific Electric and PE partner, Los Angeles Motor Coach Company. This limited edition of 50 1929 Twincoachs represent one of the very first "modern" transit buses ever put into service.
