Sherman Cutoff
Introduction:
  SHERMAN CUTOFF: Route: From junction with Santa Monica via Sawtelle Line at La Cienega Boulevard. via private way to Sherman Carhouse, 1.17 miles, all on private way and all single track. This was a short cut to enable cars to reach Sherman from W. 16th St. (Venice Boulevard.) or vice versa. It was built by Sherman & Clark in 1897 and was standard gauged in 1908. Singe-track operation between Sherman Junction. and West Hollywood was governed by a manually operated single-light circuit, with light-switch boxes located at Sherman Junction. and west entrance of West Hollywood Yard.
